Use when: collector contacts you about unfamiliar debt
Debt Validation Letter
Forces the collector to prove they own your debt and that the amount is accurate — citing FDCPA §1692g and Regulation F (12 C.F.R. § 1006.34). Collection activity must pause until they respond. Send within 30 days of first contact for strongest protection.
🤝
Use when: you're ready to settle for less than the full balance
Settlement Offer Letter
Covers the 6 elements every written settlement agreement must include — including zombie debt waiver language that stops the forgiven balance from being sold to a new collector. Never pay without this signed by an authorized representative.
🗑️
Use when: you want the entry completely removed, not just updated
Pay-for-Delete Letter
Offers payment in exchange for complete deletion from all three credit bureaus — not a "paid" update. Works best with smaller debt buyers and time-barred accounts. Includes an odds table by collector type so you know what to expect before you ask.
